What are the social insurance registration steps and contribution rates in Cyprus?

Employers register in the Register of Employers of the Social Insurance Services (SIS) using form YKA 01-001 and notify recruitments through the ERGANI system (https://ergani.mlsi.gov.cy) no later than one day before recruitment, while self-employed persons apply on form YKA 1-008 and usually receive a social insurance number within 1-2 weeks. For employees the contribution is 22.8% of insurable earnings, split as 8.8% employer, 8.8% employee and 5.2% state; self-employed pay a total of 21.8% of which 16.6% is paid by the self-employed and 5.2% by the state; and voluntary contributors pay 19.7% of which 15% is paid by the contributor and 4.7% by the state. Employers also pay 1.2% to the Redundancy Fund, 0.5% to the Human Resources Development Fund and 2% to the Social Cohesion Fund. Contributions must be paid by the end of the calendar month following the month for which they are due, and self-employed social insurance is payable every three months. For current rates, the official businessincyprus.gov.cy page is authoritative.
