How are professional qualifications recognised in Cyprus and the EU?

If you want to practise a regulated profession, you apply to have your professional qualification recognised in the EU country where you intend to work, and you should first check the regulated professions database at ec.europa.eu/growth/tools-databases/regprof to see whether your profession is regulated there. A profession is regulated if you must hold a specific degree, sit special exams, and/or register with a professional body to access it. Seven sectoral professions benefit from automatic recognition: nurses, midwives, doctors, dentists, pharmacists, architects and veterinary surgeons. The general framework is Directive 2005/36/EC, with specific legislation for sailors, aircraft controllers, lawyers and commercial agents, and Point of Single Contact (PSC) Cyprus is available for general contact. For the competent authority for your profession, the official businessincyprus.gov.cy page is authoritative.
